Decorative Machines

Go Beyond Standard Stitching

Decorative embroidery opens up a world of texture, shine and dimension beyond conventional flat stitching. Rather than a separate machine, it's a set of specialist devices that can be added to almost any ZSK machine — so you can build the exact creative capabilities your business needs. As the UK's sole ZSK distributor, we can specify, fit and support the full range of decorative options on new and existing machines.

How Decorative Embroidery Works on ZSK Machines

ZSK's modular design means decorative techniques are added as devices rather than built into a fixed model. Sequins, cording, beading, loops and more can be configured to suit your work, then switched in as your product range grows. Because each technique often uses dedicated needle positions and thread types, 18-needle and wide-area machines are the natural choice — they leave room for specialty devices alongside your standard colours and provide the larger field that decorative, large-format designs deserve.

Understanding Different ZSK Head Types

Most decorative work is carried out on the standard F-head — the all-rounder fitted to the majority of ZSK machines and compatible with the most popular decorative devices, from sequins and cording to beading and the 3D Loop. ZSK also offers specialist heads, such as the W-head for coiling, taping and cord/ribbon work, which open up more advanced effects. These fall under ZSK's technical and specialist systems, which we cover separately — for everything on this page, a standard F-head machine is all most businesses need.

Which Machine Is Right for Decorative Work?

Decorative embroidery can be added to virtually any ZSK machine, but some are better suited than others. We recommend 18-needle machines — such as the Sprint 8, the Sprint 7L or XL series and the Racer II multi-head range — which free up needle positions for specialty threads and devices alongside your standard colours. Wide-area machines are also ideal, giving the larger field needed to make the most of decorative, large-format designs.

FAQs

Can any ZSK machine do decorative embroidery?

Most ZSK machines can be fitted with decorative devices, though 18-needle and wide-area machines are best suited as they leave room for specialty threads and offer a larger creative field. Some devices, such as the cord/loop device, require an F-head — we can confirm compatibility for your model.

What is the ZSK 3D Loop device?

It's a newer ZSK device that creates raised, three-dimensional loop-pile textures, giving a soft, chenille-style finish that adds real depth to a design.

Do I need a dedicated chenille machine for chenille embroidery?

No — ZSK's new 3D Loop device recreates the soft, fuzzy chenille look on a standard F-head machine, so you can add it to your setup. For high-volume true chenille and moss/kettle stitch, ZSK's specialist K-head systems are available within our technical embroidery range.

Can decorative devices be added to a machine I already own?

In many cases, yes. We can advise based on your machine model and head type, and handle fitting and training.
